Why Haven't We Been Doing It This Way All Along?

A crisis should drive creativity.

And if there is anything true about right now it is that we are in a crisis.

There will be some good to come out of all of this, and there will be plenty of bad too, but if people pay attention we may come out the other side with a least a few better ways of doing things.

Here’s one example. We took the Sharpnadoes to the dentist a few days ago. Thanks to all of the Covid-19 changes they had us just wait in the car as opposed to the waiting room. When it was out turn they came out and got us. We went in, everyone had their temperature taken, and then the Sharp Six proceeded back to see the dentist*.

Then it hit me, why have we been doing this the other way for so long, especially a doctor’s offices? Think about it. You get sick, sick enough to go see the doctor, and then you go sit in a room full of sick people until the doctor can finally see you. You are going to see a medical professional, that’s the good news. The bad news is you are going to spend an inordinate amount of time waiting in a germ paradise before you get there.

I’m sure there are some reasons why this wouldn’t work for everyone, but wouldn’t it be better if a visit to the doctor meant waiting in your car? They text you a reminder if your visit, couldn’t they do the same to let you know when it was your turn? Isn’t it at least worth trying?
