We met while pursuing our Th.M. degrees at Dallas Theological Seminary. As the story goes, we had a great first date, but Elaina said no to a second date. Aaron decided not to give up, so we started working on a chart of the book of Genesis together for Old Testament history class. By the end of the project we were dating. We like to say we found love in Genesis, and a couple of years later were married. Let’s all just give thanks that the chart was not on the book of Leviticus. No one finds love in Leviticus.

Aaron is the IT Director for RightNow Media, an experienced writer, and a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary. It took him 7 years to get a 120 hour Master of Theology degree. The patriarch Jacob worked 7 years and got a wife. He spent 7 years at DTS and got a degree and a wife. Take that Jacob.

Elaina also has a Th.M. from DTS, although it only took her 6 years. She has done some freelance writing and curriculum projects, but her day job is being the owner of a commercial plumbing business. God has an interesting sense of humor. She also homeschools the tiny Sharp humans. Crazy doesn’t even begin to describe her everyday life.

Our family started growing in 2011 with the birth of our first adorable son who always has a question about everything, the Zoologist. Soon after, in 2013, the Ballerina brought grace and sweetness into our family. The Fashionista joined us in 2015, and is the sassy, hilarious, take charge one in the family. And last but not least, the Slugger came in 2017, swinging his bat for anyone who will pitch to him, and bestowing slobbery kisses on anyone who will snuggle him. The Sharpnadoes (as we like to call them) bring light and laughter to our lives, and we are so thankful God saw fit to make us their parents.

Aaron has authored five books: You Got This Dad by Harvest House Publishers I Didn't Sign Up for This published by Our Daily Bread Publishing, Everything the Bible Says about Parenting and Children and What Does God Say about That? published by Bethany House Publishers, and You Got This Dad published by Harvest House Publishers. Additionally, my writing has been published in the Odessa American and Dallas Morning News newspapers, as well as Learning Through History Magazine, Discipleship Journal, Leben Journal, In Touch Magazine, Marriage Partnership Magazine, and multiple issues of The Lookout Magazine.

Together we coauthored the book, The Most Important Women of the Bible by Bethany House Publishers.

“Life is hard and then you die,” is something Elaina grew up hearing. It was a light-hearted push towards keep on keepin’ on, but perhaps lacked a little empathy. We know that life can be hard, and we want to help lighten it up a bit. If we can help you find something to laugh, smile, quirk an eyebrow about while you are in the trenches, then our mission has been accomplished. And maybe we will all learn something along the way too.
